SoftService has automated Microsoft's unattended installation methods.The resulting product the SSI (SoftService Installer) enables administrators to install and configure windows operating systems for servers, desktops and laptops from one central location. Hardware is quickly identified and integrated into the distribution routine. There by increasing efficiency and at the same time lowering both IT-management and support costs. The user also benefits from the standardized installation methods and shorter reaction times required to respond to problems.

Starting with the simple installation, many default values are directly established as global settings for use on all computers. After the activation of PXE per mouse click(wizard supported), the selected computers hardware is inventoried. Then after the installation can be started with a click of your mouse from your administration console, the status monitor keeps you informed as to the status of the installation(s).

The SoftService Installer manages all the necessary drivers for network, graphic and soundcards independent of the computer being installed. Import for example the driver for a Broadcom network card just once using the wizard and then the driver is available for any installation requiring this driver. The card and its ID will be taken during the inventory phase of the installation and the newly imported driver will automatically be integrated into the Unattended Setup

• Deployment of Linux operating systems.
  The Installer 3.1 goes Penguin and now supports the automatic Installation of Suse Linux version 9.0 or newer and Red Hat Fedor build 4.0. Of special interest for customers who wish to experiment with Linux is that each purchased license includes a windows and a Linux configuration at no extra cost.

• Language support
  The SoftService installer 3.1 now offers support for the installation and configuration of almost all language versions of Microsoft?s operating systems.

• Bandwidth optimizing with the Cache Server
  The use of a passive cache server makes the SoftService Installer more effective.  Clients connect to the master server and then to the cache server thus ensuring that the required files reside on the cache server, any required or missing files are copied to the cache server at the same time the client installation will begin. The service partition option in the SSI must be activated in order to use this feature. The addition of the cache server has lead to the fusion of the SoftService Installer Standard and Enterprise versions. SoftService will no longer offer different versions of the SSI.
